Festive

The glitter of holiday lights, the sound of laughter at a gathering, the warmth of family around are definitely what make me excited about December. These quintessentially festive moments are why I love the holidays. They seem to transform even the mundane into joy because at its core, is belonging. It is a reminder that we don’t need grand occasions to embrace that spirit. The little things really do fill our cups. So it may be, the holidays can bring on stress, sadness and loneliness with packed schedules and heightened expectations. However, it is a time and sometimes the only time that many use or can use to connect and celebrate with others. In the grand scheme, creating intentional moments that spark festive energy can generate an atmosphere that brightens the mood and chases away the blues, particularly those brought on by the season.

Theme Rituals: Starting your day by setting a certain tone could be a great navigator, especially when things seem out of control. It could be extended for the month as a tool in your getting through the holidays kit with ease and enjoyment.
Style it: Dressing up to feel good really is a thing. Let your personal style echo the lively energy of the season. Incorporate something vibrant into your wardrobe—bright scarves, bold earrings, or wear that special red of lipstick to go bold and bright. Better yet, put on that “ugly” sweater for a little razzle dazzle.
Watchlist: Don’t forget your holiday movies watch list particularly for the days that might be challenging. Die Hard, The Holiday, The Family Stone, The Harry Potter films are always on deck for me. Not to mention the cheesy holiday specific movies on all the different streaming platforms.
Connection: Create moments that bring people together if you’re not up for going to events or can’t. Whether through laughter, good food, or simply being present with one another, beautiful shared experiences lift us up.
My prayer for you is that you have clarity of mind to be intentional and make the most of what you can and notice the beauty of the season around you. Depending Ton how you see it, the world is looking scarier, meaner and lonelier so purposely holding on to ease and light just might be the saving grace.
